BTS Enlists in the Military. BTS, the popular boy band, has enlisted in the military for active duty.
Having written a new chapter in the history of K-pop in South Korea and making significant contributions to promoting the country globally, there is hardly anyone unaware of BTS’s achievements. Despite being eligible for military exemption with gold medals from the Asian Games and a bronze medal from the Olympics, BTS achieved remarkable cultural and economic feats through various international competitions. Many argued that given their unprecedented accomplishments, BTS should be granted exemption from military service. Some even volunteered to serve on behalf of BTS, claiming that the group going to the military would be a significant loss for South Korea.
In response to public sentiment, some politicians discussed offering military exemption benefits to BTS even though the group had not made any official statements on the matter. These discussions were initiated as a means to gain public favor.

However, as befitting icons leading the global culture, BTS members have also started their military service. Jin, taking the lead, enlisted on December 13, 2022, and is currently serving as an instructor at the 5th Infantry Division Training Center. Following suit, J-Hope enlisted on April 18, 2023, and is serving as an instructor at the 36th Infantry Division Baekho Training Battalion. Suga followed later, entering military service on September 22, 2023, and is currently fulfilling his duties as a public service worker.
Big Hit Entertainment, their management company, announced that the remaining four members have enlisted together this time. RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have all enlisted as active-duty soldiers in the army to fulfill their mandatory military service. According to the procedures, there won’t be any separate official events on the day they enter the training center.
Due to the potential congestion at the scene and to prevent safety incidents, the agency earnestly requested fans to refrain from visiting the site. They also expressed that warm farewells and encouragement towards RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook should be conveyed through heartfelt thoughts.
